SPACE_X WHERE ARE WE? - RURAL Auckland NZ in the hill's WHY SPACEX? - Didn't have a lot of choice. 1. Copper Cable is Antique and when it rains - forget any form of internet 2. FIBRE CABLE? - Forget it, never going to happen (RURAL - No body will waste money putting in cable for 5 houses) 3. Wireless (Mobile or otherwise) - DATA Caps are too low (300gbs to 600gbs**), and signal is glitchy. ** ANY self respecting Teen will go through that data cap in a week SO Your wondering WHAT IS THIS OR WHAT'S the point? This is for anyone thinking about SPACEX satelitte internet .. 1. How expensive? Mounted on a House at a Physical address - NZ$ 156 Monthly 2. DATA CAP? Unlimitted for the present, whether that means in future it will be carved into blocks? or what - who knows 3. Hardware? VARIES .. I have seen it down to $500 and up as far as $1000. IT DEPENDS IF spacex ARE trying to gather more customers. ** NOTES on HARDWARE: 1 X DISH, 1 X ROUTER and a long cable to go between the router and the dish (which will be in a prominent position outside somewhere.) (Once its connected) - With an app you load on your CELLPHONE THE device pretty much sets itself up It's wireless only at first (no external ethernet port) unless you buy extra the special lead/interface from SPACEX for $65 (last known price). So whats the performance Like? Excellent I have to say - 12mgbs down link and 2 mgbs up, with a slight drop in wet cloudy weather. I would say this is due to the fact the satelittes are overhead and not on the distant horizon. When we ordered it there was a waiting period of about 6 months before it arrived, I would say that was making sure that there was enough satelittes and customer slots. If you thinking about it, I wouldn't hesitate as the service is good and there has been no issues thus far. SORRY Mr E.Musk I still don't like your cars..
